    Care Instructions

    • machine washable at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle, close the zippers beforehand
    • suitable detergent for functionl clotheing, e.g. Tech Wash® from Nikwax
    • do not use fabric softener!
    • iron on a low heat after washing to refresh the water repellent coating

    If the water repellency of the jacket wears off after a few washes despite heat treatment, you can easily re-waterproof the jacket, preferably with an FC-free waterproofing agent such as Nikwax TX.DIRECT SPRAY-ON

    Size Information

    Orientate yourself to your normal clothing size. It is important that the jacket fits you later on even without a baby.
    There is room for your baby up to 1.5-2 years thanks to the insert.
    You will need the pregnancy insert from about 7 months.

    The jacket is very well made and has a lot of well thought out features. Unfortunately I find the name and heat rating of 6 misleading: this is not really a winter jacket. It is ok while baby wearing as the baby generates heat but when not baby wearing I am cold below 0c even with proper layering underneath while walking actively uphill. It stops the wind and I am sure it would stop the rain but it doesn’t provide much insulation/warmth and feels more like wearing a softshell or a rain coat rather than a winter coat. I have a wool coat with a temperature rating of 5 and I don’t find winterwander any warmer, I would even say colder, compared to the wool. Everything considered, even though it is a good quality jacket, I would not buy it again, I could by softshell for a lower price with similar results. The reason I bought this one was to be able to put a coat quickly over myself and baby and be out the door, instead of having to do a multitude of layers, and that is not the case.

    5 from 5 Not warm

    I was excited to get this jacket after all the reviews. I have another jacket by the brand that I really like and I wanted something a bit warmer for winter. Unfortunately the coat is disappointing in regards to the warmth, especially if worn without the baby. For example today was a lovely sunny day with 0C. I wore a tank top, merino long sleeve base layer + a long sleeve polar fleece underneath the coat + scarf/hat/mittens, I was outside for short periods: 10-15 min, while walking fast and I was not warm, if I would have had to stop for any reason I would have been cold. It is more a spring/fall jacket I would say. WhenI have the baby with me it is better, but I could still feel the cold on my shoulders and arms. Knowing this I would not have bought the jacket: yes with even more layers it would probably work, but even a good rain jacket that cuts the wind and rain would work with adequate layers. My goal was to be able to not dress up like I am going winter camping but dress normally underneath as I head to work after dropping off the kid at day care. Unfortunately I bought from overseas and cant return.
